Moroccan occupying forces besieged and raided several houses on Wednesday in the occupied city of El Ayun, after tens of Sahrawi citizens went in a peaceful demonstration in the city, said a report of the Association of families of Saharawi prisoners and disappeared (AFAPREDESA).
The demonstrators chanted slogans condemning the Moroccan occupation and demanding to enable the Saharawi people to exercise its right to self-determination and independence.
According to the source the demonstration resulted in the intervention of the Moroccan repressive forces to disperse the demonstrators, breaking into several houses of Sahrawi citizens and physically assaulting them and intimidating them.
The intervention was followed by an intense siege carried out by the Moroccan occupying forces, on the neighbourhood where the demonstration took place, supported by factions of public inquiries as well as top police officials in the occupied city of El Ayun, the same source added.(SPS)
